मारियो मिरांडा ख्यात चित्रकर आनी व्यंग्य चित्रकार जावनशीलो. तो गोवा राज्याचे लोटलीं गांवांत जल्मलो. टैम्स ऑफ़ इंडिया, दि इकोनोमीक टैम्स, द इल्लस्ट्रेटेड वीकली आनी इतर पत्रिकेंत तागेले व्यंग्यचित्र प्रकट करतशीलो. मरितोले जल्म दामनांत एक क्रिस्तंव समुदायांत 02-05-1926 इसवेंत जालें. तागेले शिक्षण बेंगळूराचे सैंट. जोसेफस बोय्स हैस्कूल आनी पदवी मुंबयचे सैंट. सेवियर्स कोलेजांत जालें.

वृत्ती जीवन
मारियो भुरगेपणा थावन चित्र बरयतालो. तागेले व्यंग्य चित्रांत गोवांतले गांवचे चित्रण पोळोवपाक मेळता. ताणे आपले 10 वरस वया पासून चित्र बरयीले पुस्तक दवरल्यात. ताणे एक जाहीरात स्टुडियॊंत वृत्ती सुरु केलें. चार वरसान ती वृत्ती सोडून चित्रकार जावचो निर्धार केलो. तागेले पयलें व्यंग्य चित्र दि इल्लस्ट्रेटेड वीकली ऑफ़ इंडिया पत्रिकेंत प्रकट जालें. तागेले पिंतुर आनी व्यंग्यचित्र करेंट पत्रिकेर दिसांदीस येवचाक लागलें आनी तो ख्यात जालो. उप्रांत तागेले “निम्बुपानी” आनी “मिस फ़ोन्सेका” नांवाचे चित्र फ़ेमिना, इकोनोमीक टैम्स, आनी इल्लस्ट्रेटेड वीकलींत प्रकट जावच्याक आरंभ जालें. मारियोक चडीत शिक्षण घेवचाक विद्यार्थी वेतन मॆळन तो पोर्तुगलाक गेलो. एक वरस उप्रांत तो लंडनाक गेलो. थंय ताणे पत्रिकेंत आनी टेलिविशनांत अनिमेशन कार्यक्रम रूपीत केलें. ताणे लंडनांत 5 वरस भर मेड, लिलिपुट आनी पंच पत्रिकेंत चित्र प्रकट केलां. ताणे साभार गांव आनी देशांत काम करीत भोवंत चित्र प्रदर्शन केलां. ताणे काडलेलें चित्र गोवा पंजीमाचे नवें मुन्सिपल मार्केट, मडगांव रेल्वे स्टेशनांत पोळोवपाक मेळटा. ताणे एकव्यक्ती चित्रकला प्रदर्शन साभार 22 देशांत केलां. ताणे लाफ़ इट ऑफ़्फ़, गोवा विद लव, जर्मनी इन विंटरटैम आनी साभार पुस्तक बरोवन प्रकट केलां. साभार ख्यात लेखकालें पुस्तकांक चित्र रचयलां.

मान सम्मान
भारत सरकारान मारियोक पद्म श्री (1988), पद्म भूषण (2002), आनी पद्म विभूषण (2012) दीवन गौरव केलां. 1988 इसवींत राष्ट्रीय भावैक्यताचो मिले सुर मेरा तुम्हारा विडियो चित्रांत ताका दाकयलां. अखील भारत व्यंग्यचित्र संघ बेंगळूर तर्फ़ेन ताका जीवमान प्रशस्ती लाभलां. स्पैनाचो राय जुवान कार्लोसान ’क्रोस ओफ़ द ओर्डर ओफ़ इसाबेल द केथोलिक’ प्रशस्ती दिलां (2009). पोर्चुगीस राष्ट्राचे प्रशस्ती ’कमांडर ओफ़ द ओर्डर ओफ़ प्रिन्स हेन्री’ दीवन मान केला (2009). 2013 इसवींत मुंबयचे एक तिस्काक तागेले नांव दवरलां.

Mario Miranda

Mario Miranda was an Indian cartoonist and painter from Loutolim, Goa. Miranda was a regular cartoonist with The Times of India, the Economic Times and other newspapers in Mumbai. But he got his popularity with his works published in The Illustrated Weekly of India. Mario was born in Daman to catholic parents on 02-05-1926. He studied at St. Joseph’s Boy’s High School, Bangalore and completed B.A. in History from St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai.

Career
Mario started to draw at very early age. His early cartoons presented vignettes of Goan village life. He started to maintain his diaries from the age of 10, sketching the life around him. Mario got his first break as a cartoonist with the Illustrated Weekly of India which published a few of his works. His drawings and cartoons also brought him an offer to work at the Current magazine. The Times of India also offered him a slot. Thereafter, his creations such as Miss Nimbupani and Miss Fonseca appeared on a regular basis in Femina, Economic Times and The Illustrated Weekly of India. Mario won a grant and lived in Portugal for a year. Then he moved to London, working for different newspapers and even working in television animation. During his 5 years in London his caricatures were published in magazines like Mad, Lilliput and Punch. He then travelled to many countries either working or conducting exhibitions. He held solo exhibitions in over 22 countries. He has published several books including Laugh it Off, Goa with Love and Germany in Wintertime. He has illustrated many books including children’s.

Honour
Mario Miranda was honoured with Padma Shri (1988), Padma Bhushan (2002) and Padma Vibhushan (2012) by Government of India. All India Cartoonist’s Association, Bangalore, honoured him with a Lifetime Achievement Award. The King of Spain, conferred the highest civilian honour of “Cross of the Order of Isabel the Catholic” (2009). In 2009, Portugal under the President of the Republic made him “commander of the Order of Prince Henry”, a Portugal national order of kinghood. In 2013, a road junction in Mumbai was named after Miranda.
