एम.वि. कामत म्हणुन ख्यात जालालो माधव विठल कामत पत्रकर्त, प्रसारांगाचो अधिकारी आनी प्रसार भारतीचो अध्यक्ष जावनशीलो. तो ’द संडे टायम्स’ आनी ’इल्लस्ट्रेटेड वीकली’ पत्रिकेचो संपादक जावनशीलो (1967-69). तो मंगळूराचे न्यायवादी विठल कामताले पूत जावन 07-09-1921 इसवेंत मंगळूरांत जल्मलो. तागेले शिक्षण उडुपीचे सांत सिसिलीस कोन्वेंट, क्रिश्चन हायस्कूल, बोर्ड हायस्कूल आनी पदवी शिक्षण मंगळूराचे विश्वविद्यानिलय कोलेजांत जालें.

वृत्ती जीवन
पदवी शिक्षण घेतले उप्रांत 1941 इसवींत कामतान बोंबयचे सांत सेवियर्स कोलेजांत रसायन शास्त्र आनी भौत शास्त्रांत पदवी जोडली. उप्रांत ताणे ओरियंटल फार्मासुटिकल इंडस्ट्रीस लिमिटेड कंपनींत रसायन शास्त्रज्ञ जावन वावर केलें. 1946 इसवींत पत्रकर्त वृत्ती मुंबयचे फ़्री प्रेस जर्नलाचे मुखांतर आरंभ केलें. उप्रांत फ़्री प्रेस बुलेटिन सांजे पत्रिकेंत वावर केलें. 1947 इसवी आगस्ट 14 मध्यरात्री भारताचे स्वातंत्र घोषण सुवाळेंत पत्रिका प्रतिनिधी जावन दिल्लींत आसून पोळोवचे भाग्य ताका लाभलां. त्या नंतर टायम्स ऑफ़ इंडिया समूहाक मेळो. 1955-58 थांय तो प्रेस ट्रस्ट ऑफ़ इंडियाचो विशेष प्रतिनिधी जावन अमेरिकाचे न्य़ूयार्कांत, 1959-63 थांय युरोपाचे प्रतिनिधी जावन जर्मनींत वावर केलें. 1967-69 इसवींत दि संडे टायम्स पत्रिकेचो संपादक जालो. वाशिंग्टन वरदिगार जावन टायम्स ऑफ़ इंडियांत साभार 10 वरस वावर केलां. त्या उप्रांत इल्लस्ट्रेटेड वीक्ली ऑफ़ इंडिया पत्रिकेचो संपादक जावानशीलो. कामतान साभार 45 पुस्तक बरयल्यात. त्या पयकी प्राधान मंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी, 5 बॅंकांचो इतिहास प्रमुख जावनसात. तागेले 93वे जल्मादीस ताणे कम्यूनिकेशन स्कूलाचे विद्यार्थी आनी शिक्षकां सांगत मानायलो

मान स्म्मान
भारतीय पत्रिकोद्यम विभागांत कामताक भारत सरकाराचे पद्म भूषण प्रशस्ती लाभले (2004). मंगळूर विश्वविद्यानिलया थावन गौरव डोक्टरेट लाभलां. तो डा. टि.ऎम.ए. पै फ़ौंडेशन आनी मणिपाल विश्वविद्यानिलयाचो आडळीत मंडळीचो सांदो जावनशीलो. मणिपाल विश्वविद्यालयाचे स्कूल ऑफ़ कम्यूनिकेशनाचे गौरव निर्देशक जावनशीलो.

Madhav Vittal Kamath

Madhav Vittal Kamath, popularly known as M.V. Kamath was a journalist, broadcasting executive and the chairman of Prasara Bharathi. He has worked as editor of The Sunday Times and The Illustrated Weekly of India. He was born on 07-09-1921 to Vittal Kamath who was lawyer in Mangalore. He had his education in St. Cecily’s Convent, Christian high School, Board High School, Udupi and Government college in Mangalore. He got his degree in chemistry and Physics from St. Xavier’s college, Mumbai in 1941.

Career
Kamath began his career in Oriental Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd as a chemist. His journey as a journalist began in 1946 as a reporter for the Free Press Journal in Bombay. He was present at the ceremony announcing India’s Independence at midnight on August 14, 1947. Kamath was appointed as special correspondent of the Press Trust of India at the United Nations, Newyork (1955-58) and as a European correspondent of the Times of India at Germany (1959-63). He was the Washington correspondent of the paper for 10 years (1969-78). He was editor of The Times of India and Illustrated Weekly of India. Kamath wrote more than 45 books on different topics including biography of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, History of 5 Banks. Kamath celebrated his 93rd birthday with the faculty and students of the School of Communication.

Honour
Kamath was awarded the Padma Bhushan for his contribution to Indian journalism (2004). He was also honoured with Honarary Doctorate from Mangalore University. He was a board member of Dr. T.M.A. Pai Foundation and Board of Management of Manipal University. He also held Honorary Directorship of the School of Communication, Manipal university.
