लक्ष्मणराव सरदेसाय गोवाचो फामाद कवी आनी ल्हान कथा बरोवपी. मराठी बरपी लोकांत अद्वितीय म्हणून नांव पावला. ताणे कोंकणी आनी पोर्तुगीस भाशेनय बरयलां. सरदेसाय 18 मार्च, 1904 इसवेंत गोवा राज्याचे सवय वेरें हांगा जल्मलो आनी 1986 इसवेंत देवादीन जालो. तो गोवांत पोर्तुगीस आडळीत आसताना आनी सुटका उप्रांतय जियेला. तागेले प्राथमीक शिक्षण मराठी माध्यमांत जालें. नंतर पोर्तुगीस शाळेंत अध्ययन केलें. पदवी घेतल्या नंतर ताणे म्हापशेंत पोर्तुगिस शिक्षण दीवपी इश्कोल काडलें.

साहित्य
लक्ष्मण रावान 700 ल्हान काणियो मराठीन बरयलां. तो गोवा सुटका झुजांत क्रियाशील जावन आशीलो. तागेले बरपांत वीसावे शेकडांत गोवाचें चित्रण पोळोवपाक मेळता. “मांडवी तूं आटलीस” तागेले एकैक कोंकणी कादंबरी 1947 इसवींत प्रकट जालां. लक्ष्मण रावान बरयिलें पोर्तुगीस कवना पयकी थोडे तागेले पूत मनोहर राव सरदेसायीन भाशांतर केलां. लक्ष्मण रावान फ़्रान्सिस्को गोम्सान बरयिले फ़्रेंच कादंबरी “ओस ब्रह्मनेस” ब्राह्मण नांवार भाशांतर केलां (1973). तशेंच कामुसान बरयिलें उच्छ कृती जग वेगळा नांवान भाशांतर केलां (1958).

मान – स्म्मान
1982 इसवींत सरदेसायीन बरयिलें 16 प्रबंधांचे संकलन “खबरी” पुस्तकाक साहित्य अकाडमी पुरस्कार लाभलां. 2008 इसवींत प्रकाश थाळीन लक्ष्मण रावाले विषयार बरयिलें निबंध साहित्य अकाडेमीन प्रकट केलां. 2004 इसवींत लक्ष्मण रावाले जन्मशताब्दीक जाग पत्रिकेन लक्ष्मणराव दिवाली विशेशांक प्रकट केलां.

Laxman Rao Sardesai

Laxman Rao Sardesai, a Goan poet and short-story writer was considered as one of the finest writers in the Marathi language. He also wrote prose and verse in Konkani and Portuguese. Sardesai was born on 18-03-1904 in Savoi-Verem and died in 1986. He lived, therefore, through the times of the Portuguese and the post liberation Indian government. He persued his education in Marathi. Later he joined Portuguese School and did 7 years course. After completing his degree he opened a Portuguese medium School in Mapusa.

Literature
His writings which include over 700 stories in Marathi, provide a spectrum of Goa over the twentieth century. “Mandovi Tum Aattlis” is his only published Konkani novel in 1947. Some of his Portuguese poems are translated by his son Manohar Rao Saradesai. Laxman Rao Sardesai has translated Portuguese novel ‘Os Brahamanes’ written by Francisco Gomes as Brahmann (1973) and French classic ‘L’Estranger’ written by Camus as “Jaga vegalla”(1958).

Honour
He was awarded with Sahitya Academy Award in 1982 for his amazing collection of 16 essays “Khabri”. In 2008 Sahitya Academy Published a monograph on Laxman Rao Sardesai authored by Prakash Thali. A special Diwali issue of “Jag” was published in his honour for his birth centenary year 2004.
