वसंत कुमार शिवशंकर पडुकोणेक सामान्य जावन गुरुदत्त म्हणून वळखतात. तो सिनिमा निर्देशक, निर्मापक, नट, नृत्य निर्देशक आनी बरोवपी जावनशीलो. तो 09-07-1925 इसवेंत कर्नाटकाचे पडुकोणे गांवांत चित्रापुर ब्राह्मण समुदायांत जल्मलो. तागेले बापय शिवशंकर राव पडुकोणे मुखेल शिकोवपी आनी सावकार जावनशीलो. आवय वसंति शिक्षकी आन्मी बरोवपी जावनशीली. तागेले भुर्गेपणांत जालेल्या अपघात उप्रांत तागेले नांव गुरुदत्त पडुकोणे म्हणून बदल केल्लें. तागेले प्राथमीक शिक्षण भोवानिपुरांत जालें. उप्रांत ताणे उदयशंकराले नृत्य शाळेंत नृत्य तरबेत घेतलें.
वृत्ती जीवन
गुरुदत्तान साभार 10 वरस भर (1950-60) जनप्रीय सिनेमांत नटन निर्देशन केलां. त्या पयकी प्यासा (1957), कागज़ के फूल (1959), चौदवीन का चांद (1960), साहेब बीबी और गुलाम (1962) खूब जनप्रीय आशिलें. ताणे गुरुदत्त फ़िल्म्स म्हळालो प्रोडक्शन स्टुडियो आरंभ केलो (1951). कलात्मक चित्र करच्यांत तो प्रख्यात आशीलो. ताणे प्रभात फ़िल्म कंपनींत काम केलां. ताणे मट्वी काणी बरोवन दि इल्लस्ट्रेटेड वीकली पत्रिकेंत प्रकट केलां. आर पार, मिस्टर आनी मिसेस ’55, सि.आइ.डी, सैलाब असले जनप्रीय सिनेमांत नटन केलां. हृशिकेष मुखर्जीलें निर्देशनाचें मीना कुमारी नायकी आशीले सांज और सवेरा तागेले अंतीम सिनेमा. कबीर आनी नस्रीन मुन्नी हांनी गुरुदत्ताले विषयार “गुरुदत्त : ए लैफ़ इन सिनेमा” (1996) आनी “युवर्स गुरुदत्त” (2006) म्हळेले दोन आत्मचरित्र बरयलां,
मान सम्मान
गुरुदत्तान निर्माण केलेलें साहेब बीबी और गुलाम सिनेमाक बि.एफ़.जे.ए, प्रशस्ती, फ़िल्म फ़ेर प्रशस्ती, राश्ट्रीय सिनेमा प्रशस्ती उत्तम नटन, उत्तम सिनेमा खातीर लाभलां. 2004 इसवींत तागेले गौरवार्थ भारतीय टपाल चीट काडलां. गुरुदत्ताले वयर केलेलें डोक्यूमेंटरी फ़िल्म दूरदर्शनार प्रसार जालां (2011) “गुरुदत्त :ऍन अनफ़िनिशड स्टोरी” नांवांचें बयोग्रफ़ि यासर उस्मानान बरोवन प्रकट केलां (2021).
Vasanth Kumar Shivashanker Padukone better known as Gurudutt, was an Indian film director, producer, actor, choreographer and writer. He was born on 09-07-1925 at Padukone villege in Karnataka in a Chitrapur Brahmin community. His name was changed to Gurudutta adukone following a childhood accident. His father was Shivashanker Rao Padukone was a headmaster and abanker, mother Vasanthi was teacher and writer. He persuaded his education at Bhowanipore, Kolkatta. Later he studied at Uday Shanker’s school of dancing and choreography in Almora.
Career
He made 1950-60s classics such as Pyasa (1957), Kagaz ke phool (1959), Chaudhvin ka chand (1960) and Saheb Bibi Aur Gulam (1962). He started his own production studio – Gurudutt Films in 1952. Dutt’s next films, however were blockbusters : Aar Paar (1954), Mr & Mrs ’55 (1955), C.I.D. and Sailaab (1956), Pyaasa (1957). Dutt played the lead role in three of these five films. In 1964, Dutt acted opposite Meena Kumari in his last film, Sanjh Aur Savera, directed by Hrishikesh Mukharjee. Gurudutt : A life in Cinema (1996) and Yours Gurudutt (2006), were 2 biography written by Kabir, Nasreen Munni.
Honour
Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam, which was produced by Gurudutt was honoured with B.F.J.A Awards, Filmfare Awards and National film Awards in 1963. A postage stamp featuring Dutt was released by India Post in 2004. A documentary on Gurudutt aired on Doordarshan in 2011. In 2021, author Yaser Usman published a biographical book about him, titled “Gurudutt : An Unfinished Story”.
