कवी, बरोवपी, शिक्षणतज्ञ, राजकीय आनी सामाजीक कार्यकर्ता दिनकर देसायी चुटुक ब्रह्म म्हणून नांव पावला. साहित्य क्षेत्राक तागेलें देणे अपार जावनस. दिनकर देसायी 10-09-1909 इसवेंत उत्तरकन्नड जिल्हा अंतरवळ्ळी गांवाचें हंडदोक्कल देसाय घराणेंत जल्मलो. बापय दत्तात्रेय आनी आवय अंबिकाताणे बि.ए. पदवी मैसूर, एम.ए. आनी एल.एल.बी. पदवी मुंबय विश्वविद्यानिलया दाकून प्राप्त केलें.

वृत्ती जीवन
दिनकर देसायीन बेळगांवांत वकील जावनु वृत्ती जीवन आरंभ केलें. तो एम.एन. जोशी आनी ठक्कर बाशा म्हळेले दोन कार्मीक आंदोलनाचे कार्यकर्तालें सांगत्य पडलो. कार्मिकांलें समस्या खातीर काम करचाक गोपालकृष्ण गोखलेन स्थापन केलेले ’सर्वेंट्स ऑफ़ इंडिया सोसायटीक’ मेळळो. त्या संस्थेचे सांद्यानीं खंयचय फलापेक्षा नातिलें काम करका म्हळेलो नियम आशीलें. सामाजीक कार्यकर्ता जावनु तो मुंबय धक्यार काम करचे कोंकणी कार्मीकांक मदत केलें. उप्रांत बिजापुर आनी धारवाडांत आयिले दुश्काळ पीडित लोकांक मदत करचाक लागलो.
आपणेले मूळ गांव उत्तरकन्नड खातीर काम करचाक केनरा वेलफ़ेर ट्रस्ट आरंभ केलें. ते ट्रस्टा खाल तो अनेक शाळा आनी कोलेज आरंभ केलें. राजकीय आनी सामाजीक जागृती खातीर “जनसेवक” पत्रिका शुरु केलें. अंकोलांत शेतकारां खातीर वावरकेलें. तो मुंबय नगर पालिके कोर्पोरेटर आनी लोकसभा सदस्य जावनु आशीलो. कर्नाटक एकीकरण समितीचो सक्रिय सदस्य जावनशीलो.
1930 वरसांत दिनकर देसायीन कोंकणी भाशेंत कवन बरोवचाक आरंभ केलें. 1955 इसवींत चुटुका म्हळालो नवो प्रकार आरंभ केलो. प्रबुद्ध साहिती जावन ताणे खूब नाटक, कवन, कादंबरी, चेरडुवालें पद बरयल्यांती. कवन संग्रह, ” हू गोंचलु, मक्कळ गीतगळु, मक्कळ पद्यगळु, रैतर हाडुगळु, दिनकरन चौपदी, दिनकराली कवनां, दासाळ “, तागेले प्रकटीत कवन पुस्तक. ना कंड पडुवण ताणे बरयिलें प्रवास कथन. प्रपंचद केलसगार, Primary Education in India, Maritime Labour in India, The Mahamandaleshwaras under the Chalukyas of Kalyani ताणे बरयिलें इतर पुस्तकं.

मान सम्मान
दिनकर देसायीक वरकवी, चुटुक ब्रह्म म्हळेलें बिरुदु मेळा. कर्नाटक साहित्य अकाडेमी साहित्य पुरस्कार लाभला (1972). तागेले मक्कळ गीत कवन संग्रहाक बोंबय राज्य प्रशस्ती लाभले (1956). धारवाडाचे कर्नाटक विश्वविद्यानिलय दाकून गौरव डोक्टरेट (1975) लाभलां. दिनकरन चौपदी पुस्तकाक कर्नाटक अकाडेमी प्रशस्ती (1980), पत्रिकोद्यमाक बि.एन. गुप्ता जन्मभूमी प्रशस्ती लाभल्या. कर्नाटक एकीकरण खातीर तागेले सेवेक कर्नाटक सरकारान राज्याचे नक्षे आशीलें फलक दीवनु मान केलां. ताणे ब्रिटिश कौन्सिलाचें आपोवणेक मान दीवनु इंग्लेंडाक भेट दिल्या. अंतराष्ट्रीय कार्मीक संस्थेंत वांटो घेवचाक 1945 इसवींत ताणे कोपनहेगन, डेन्मार्क, आनी 1946 इसवींत सियाटेल, अमेरिकाक भेट दिल्या.

Dinakara Desai

Dinakara Desai was a poet, writer, educationist and political and social activist. He is known as Chutuka Brahma for his famous poetry form called “Chutuka”. He has made major contributions towards the literary development of the Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka. . Dinakara Desai was born on 10-09-1909 in Antaravalli villege, Uttara Kannada District. Dattatreya and Ambika were his parents, belongs to Handadokkalu desai family. He persued his B.A. degree in Mysore, M.A. and L.LB. from Bombay University.
Career
Dinakara Desai started his legal practice at Belgaum. He was influenced by labour union activists M.N.Joshi and Thakkar Basha, who motivated him to the labour movement. He joined the ‘Servants of India Society’ which was an organisation that was founded by Gopalkrishna Gokhale. The membership to this organisation was very stringent and the members were admitted only on oath that they would serve the country without “expecting anything in return”. His initiation to social activism was when he had to fight for the rights of the dock workers in Mumbai who were Konkani people. Later he also went to the Bijapur and Dharwad to assist in providing relief when a severe drought had set into those regions. Later, Desai decided to focus on his native district of Uttara Kannada. He created Kanara Welfare Trust in 1953. Under this trust various schools and colleges were founded in this district. He also started a Kannada Weekly ‘Janasevak’ to create social and political awareness. He works for farmers also. Desai also had a career in politics and was once elected to the Parliament of India. Dinakar Desai was famous as a Poet. He also started writing poems in his mother tongue Konkani In 1930. It is learned that he commenced writing ‘Chutuka’ sometimes around the year 1955, and it became his signatur format. As a poet and writer he has written poems, dramas, novels etc. His famous books were “Makkala Padyagalu, Makkala Geetegalu, Hoo Gonchalu, Raitara Hadugalu, Dinakarana Chaupadi, Dinakarali Kavanaam (Konkani), Dasala, Na Kanda Paduvana (travel history), Prapanchada Kelasagara, Primary Education in India, Maritime Labour in India, The Mahamandaleshwaras under the Chalukyas of Kalyani etc.
Honours
Chutuka Brahma Dinakara Desai has bagged so many awards like -Bombay State Award in1956 for poetical works “Makkala Geeta”, Karnataka Sahitya Academi Award in 1972 in recognition of his contribution in literary field, “Varakavi” felicitation by Bombay Kannadigas (1973), Honorary Doctorate from Karnataka University, Dharwad (1975), Government of Karnataka awarded plaque with State map in recognition of service rendered in State Unification, B.N.Gupta Janmabhumi Award for Journalism (1976), Karnataka Sahitya Academi Award for “Dinakarana Choupadi” (1980). Dinakara desai toured Denmark to attend the convention of the International Lanour Organisation held at Copenhegan, Denmark (1945) and at Seattle, USA (1946). He also toured England in 1959 at the invitation of the British council.
