दिलीप नारायण सरदेसाय भारताचो अंतरराष्ट्रीय क्रिकेट खिलाडी जावनशीलो. तो भारताचे राष्ट्रीय पंगडांत बल्लेबाज म्हणून टेस्ट म्याच खेळतालो. तो गोयांत जल्मलालो एकैक क्रिकेट खीलाडी जावनशीलो. स्पिन बॉलाक बरें खेळ खेळचे भारताचे खिलाडी पयकी दिलीप प्रमुख जावनस. तागेले शिक्षण मडगांवांचें न्यू एरा हायस्कूलांत जालें. तागेले गांवांत क्रिकेट तरबेताक अवकाश नातिल्यान मुंबय स्थळांतर जालें. ताणे विल्सन कोलेजांत “मान्य नाय्काले” खाल क्रिकेट तरबेत घेतलें.

दिलीपान पयले पावटी अंतर विश्वविद्यनिलय रोहिन्टन बारिय ट्रोफींत 435 रन काडचे मुखांतर क्रिकेट वृत्ती जीवन आरंभ केलें. त्या वेळार खिलाडी विंचणार समितीचो अध्यक्ष लाला अमरनाथान दिलीपान खेळचे शैली पळोवन ताका राश्ट्रीय पंगडांत 11वे खिलाडी म्हणून विंचणुक केलें. कानपुरांत इंग्लांड विरुद्ध दूसरे टेस्ट मॅच ताका खेळूंक मेळें. उप्रांत वेस्टइंडीस प्रवासांत 5 मॅच पयकी तीन मॅच खेळूंक लाभलें. सरदेसायीन 5 टेस्ट मॅचांत इंग्लांडाचे विरुद्ध एकूण 449 अंक जोडलें. न्यूज़ीलेंड विरुद्ध मुंबयींत डबल सेंचुरी आनी त्वरीत शेकडा म्हणून दाखल जालें. तें मॅच भारतान जिंकलें. उप्रांत ताणे वेस्टइंडीसा विरुद्ध आनी इंग्लेंड प्रवास केलें. इंग्लेंड प्रवासा वेळार लोर्ड्स मैदानार तो गायल जालो त्या निमीत ताका आस्ट्रेलिया प्रवासा थावन भायर दवरलें. ताणे 18-23 फ़ेब, 1971 इसवींत वेस्टैंडीसा विरुद्ध किंगस्टन सबिना पार्कांत डबल सेंचुरी (212) काडलां. न्य़ूज़ीलेंड विरुद्ध मुंबयींत 200 रन काडलां (12-15 मार्च,1965). वेस्टइंडीस विरुद्ध ब्रिड्जटौन केनिंगस्टन ओवलांत 150 रन (1-6 एप्रिल,1971), स्पैनाचे क्वीन्स पार्क ओवलांत 112 रन (06-10 मार्च,1971), न्यूजीलेंडा विरुद्ध दिल्लीचे फ़िरोज़ शा कोट्ला मैदानार 106 रन काडून साधन केलां. सर्देसायीन बोंबय पंगडांत 1961-73 पर्यंत 13 वेळा रणजी ट्रोफी मेच खेळा. रजस्थान विरुद्ध 199 रन जोडून जिंकचाक कारण जालो. तागेले आखरेचें रणजी ट्रोफी मेच मद्रास विरुद्ध आशीलें.

मान सम्मान
गोवा सरकाराचे क्रीडा आनी युवनिर्देशनालय तर्फेन 2009 इसवींत दिलीप सरदेसाय स्पोर्ट्स एक्सलेन्स प्रशस्ती स्थापन केलां. दर वरस राष्ट्रीय क्रीडा दिवसाक (29 आगस्ट) अंतर राष्ट्रीय पावंडार क्रीडा स्पर्धेंत भारताचो प्रतिनिधी जावनशिलो गोंयांचो साधकाक प्रशस्ती दितात. ह्या प्रशस्तींत सरदेसायीलें कांशे फलक, प्रशस्ती पत्र आनी 2,00,000 रुपाय दितात.

Dilip Sardesai

Dilip Narayan Sardesai was an Indian International cricketer. He played Tests for the Indian national team as a batsman, the only Goa-born cricketer to play for India. He was often regarded as one of India’s best batsman against spin. he studied in the New Era High School, Margao. The region had no cricketing infrastructure during his growing days in 1950. So his family moved to Bombay, when he was 17. He attended the city’s Wilson College where his cricketing talent was spotted by coach ‘Manya Naik’.

Cricket Career
Sardesai made his first mark in cricket in the inter-University Rohinton Baria Trophy in 1959-60. where he made 435 runs at an average of 87. He was called up for the trials of the combined Universities team that was to play the touring Pakistan. Impressed by his technique, Lala Amarnath, the Chairman of Selectors, drafted him into the team. Sardesai made the playing XI, thus making his first debut against Pakistan in Pune. He was included in the India team for the Second Test of England’s India tour, in Kanpur in 1961. Later in the season Sardesai toured the West Indies, playing in three of the five Tests. He scored 449 runs in the 5 Test series against England. In 1964-65, he scored a double century aginst New Zealand at Bombay and a very fast hundred at Delhi, which helped them to win the match for India. He played aginst West Indies in 1966-67, and toured England in 1967. He was injured in Lord’s and he was dropped after two Tests in Australia due to injury. He scored 212 aginst West Indies at Sabina Park, Kingston and 200 against New Zealand at Mumbai. He scored 150 against West Indies at Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, 112 v/s West Indies at Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain, 106 v/s New Zealand at Feroz Shah Kotla Ground, Delhi, which were his best performance in his test career. He played for Bombay in the Ranji Trophy in 13 seasons. He scored 199 against Rajasthan in the final. His last first-class match was the famous Ranji Trophy final against Madras.

Honour
The directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of Goa, instituted the Dilip Sardesai Sports Excellence Award in 2009, which is given on the occasion of National Sports Day (29 August) each year. The award consists of bronze plaque of Sardesai, a citation and purse of Rs 2,00,000. It is presented to achievers among Goan sports persons who represented India at any International level sports competetion during the preceding year.
