मंजुनाथ पैन 17 वरस प्रायेर कार्कळाचे वेंकटरमण देवळाचे मुखार ल्हान कूड बाडेक घेवन 1930 इसवीचे जुलाय म्हयन्याचे 30 तारिकेक 30 रुपायो मूलधन वापरन भारत बीडी वर्क्स म्हळालो संस्थो आरंभ केलें. प्रती दीस रातिचें बीडी बांदून दिसाचे सैकलार कार्काळ गांवाचे आसपास गांवात विक्री करून येतालो. अशें कार्कळ तालू्काक सिमीत आशीले तागेलो व्यवहार वाडता उडुपी, दक्षिण कन्नड, कासरगोड जिल्ल्याक पसरलें. उप्रांत कर्नाटक भायर आनी भारतदेशा थावन भायर विस्तार जालें. ग्रामीण प्रदेशांतले निरुद्योग निवारणेंत ह्या बीडी कैगारिकोद्यमाचो व्होड वांटो आस. बायल मनश्यांक बीडी बांदूचें, लेबल लावचो उद्योग दीवन स्त्री सबलीकणाक देणीगा दिल्या. समाजाचे बरेपण खातीर काम करच्याक “मंजुनाथ दामोदर पै चारिटेबल ट्रस्ट संस्थो आरंभ करून शिक्षण, आरोग्या खातीर तो मदद करतालो. ताणे अनेक शालेचे बांदपाक आर्थीक मदत दिलां. तशेंच धार्मीक आनी सांस्कृतीक प्रगतीक आर्थीक मदद दीवन प्रोत्साह दितालो. कार्कळाचे भुवनेंद्र कॉलेजाचो सहस्थापक तो जावनशीलो.
B. Manjunatha Pai was a famous Indusrialist, philanthropist and social worker from Karkal, Udupi District. He was born in a small village Bombetadka near Karkal in a very poor family. Damodar Pai and Srimanti were his parents. He persued his primary education in Bhuvanendra sanskrit Patha Shala, Karkal. .
Career
Manjunath Pai has started his business in his teen age (17) in a rented small room, opposite to Venkataramana Temple, Karkal. He started his business Bharath Beedi Works with small amount of capital of Rs 30, on 30th July in the year 1930 in the Brand name of “30”. Intially he used to manufacture the beedies overnight and sell it in day time in the nearby villages. Like this way he expanded his business to Udupi, Dakshina Kannada and Kasargod District. Later out side Karnataka and outside India too. This villege industry contributed a lot in eradicating unemployment in villages. He employed ladies to manufacture beedies and pack them at their residence and thus made them finacially independent. He founded “Manjunath Damodar Pai Charitable Trust” to help the needy people for education and health. He has donated to build educational institutions. He was the co-founder of Bhuvanendra College in Karkal. As a social worker he always supported cultural and religious programs also.
