Workshop (2) on Konkani Methodology

Philomena Lobo, Deputy Director of Public Instruction (Development) and Principal (DIET) expressed her happiness about the steps taken by World Konkani Centre in the right direction towards introducing Konkani language into the Education system.

“Availability of properly qualifies Konkani teachers will give better footage for Konkani in Schools. To achieve this Konkani should be made available in Teacher training courses of D.Ed and B.Ed.” she said.

She was addressing the gathering after inauguration Workshop II for developing broad outline of syllabus for the proposed Konkani subjects to be introduced into D.Ed course of Karnataka State on July 23 at World Konkani Centre (WKC).

Rev Fr.Wilson V. D’Souza, Secretary, Catholic Education Board and Dr. U. S. Mohandas Nayak, President, KKLMEIA assured their fullest support and co-operation for the implemenatation of project from their institutions.

Dr K. Mohan Pai gave a brief account of efforts of many organisations in brining Konkani into Education.

Basti Vaman Shenoy,President, WKC, welcome the participants and reiterated Center’s gold in taking Konkani language to all levels of educational system from Kindergarten to Post Graduation level.

Dr. Devdas Pai, Project Director, gave a brief introduction about the project.

Gurudutt Bantwalkar, Assistant Director, World Institute of Konkani Language delivered the vote of thanks.

Senior lecturers and language experts from various teacher training schools and colleges participated in the workshop.
