I was delighted to visit the World Konkani Centre. Truly a centre for all Konkanis in our country. My congratulations to all the community leaders led by the Late Shri K.K Pai and Basti Vaman Shenoy for the yeoman service to the community. I am sure that the generation which would follow would have continued access to the centre so as to understand, follow and keep in touch with the Konkani Heritage. My good wishes to the Centre and everyone involved in their efforts.

I am extremely happy to visit and see for myself the preservation of the culture and heritage of the Konkani speaking people. A society without roots, a community without culture and individuals without a language rooted in culture, will be souless and perish. As the Konkani speaking people get a modern education and become global citizens it is essential that they take steps to preserve and enhance their heritage, so that their children would be proud inheritors of the culture and knowledge of their forefathers. All of us are descendants of a long line of our ancestors who have enriched our heritage and it is our duty to add to it and pass it on.

I commend this vision and the Centre and call on all Konkani speaking people, from all over the world to contribute to this cause!.
